What is Android?

Android's mobile operating system is based on the Linux kernel and is the world's best
       selling Smartphone.
The original meaning of term refers to the android “robat”.
The apps are primarily written in Java.

History of android OS

  •       Android Inc. was founded in Palo Alto, California in October, 2003 by Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Nick Sears, and Chris White.
  •       Their goal was to develop a "smarter mobile device that was more aware of its  owner's location and preferences.” 
  •       They operated secretively, admitting only that they were working on software for  mobile phones

A set of graphics for common for 2D and 3D programming.
Media support for common audion,video and image format.
Android is a multi-process system, in which each application (and parts of the system) runs in its own process
API for accessing peripheralas such as Camera,Global Postioning System,touchscreen ,keyboard controller.

Advantages of android

  •        Easy access to Android App Market
  •         full facilities of USB
  •         Easy in terms of notification
  •         Populist Operating System
  •         Support all Google services
  •         Install ROM modification

Disadvantages of android

Ø Making source code available to everyone inevitably invites the attention of  hackers.
Ø  Android operating system uses more amount of battery as compared to normal mobile phones.
Ø  As there are so many user sometimes it becomes difficult to connect all the users.
Ø    As we call Android is world of applications we continuously need to connected with the internet which is not possible for all the users.
